HISTORY OF MSBL
The 2012 season will be the 15th season that Middle School Basketball has been in existence. It started as a simple idea between two friends who were reminiscing about the fun times they had as Junior High School athletes at their schools in Orange County. They thought it would be fun for the kids in the Temecula Valley to have a chance to play a sport “for their middle school” -- even though the schools did not offer such an opportunity. So, that simple idea has given kids in the Temecula Valley and surrounding cities the chance to play on competitive teams with their schoolmates.
PURPOSE
To organize and provide a competitive basketball league for boys and girls in grades 6 to 8 -- according to the middle schools they attend.
PHILOSOPHY/ MISSION STATEMENT
It is our goal to teach middle school children to become better athletes and to emphasize character building by teaching the basics of teamwork -- unselfishness, cooperation, enthusiasm, skill, poise, initiative, and perseverance. The league will emphasize the fundamental skills of basketball and good sportsmanship in an atmosphere of respect for coaches, officials, and teammates. The league will also emphasize “school spirit,” and the innate fun of playing thegame.
